Aston Martin has renewed its engine supply contract with Ford, ensuring that the American automaker will supply the British company with its V8 and V12 engines for another five years.

The agreement also suggests that Aston Martin will use its VH platform for at least another five years. The VH platform underpins the Vantage, DB9 and Vanquish models. It won’t just be status quo for the automakers, chances are the Ford-supplied engines will have to be re-engineered in order to comply with the upcoming EU6 pollution regulations.

Over the last few months, rumor has it that Aston Martin was in talks with Daimler to supply components and technical assistance. But since any sort of agreement with Daimler would take time to implement, the British automaker went ahead and renewed its contract with Ford.
